Many legends of golf, from the esteemed American amateur Bobby Jones to the Englishman and major champion Sir Nick Faldo, have walked the lush fairways at Chantilly. The course was a primary host for the French Open in many years and often proved a formidable test, rarely relenting to the pros many scores in red numbers. Robust from the back tees and demanding accuracy from each teeing ground, this is yet another Tom Simpson gem.
The championship links course has played host to the European Tour’s French Open on many occasions and is the 2018 Ryder Cup venue. A enormous water hazard plays a critical strategic role on each of the last four holes, including the 18th, a dramatic risk-reward short par-5. The hazard protects the front end of the green, forcing the brave golfer to strike a pure shot in his attempt to reach the green in two shots. Truly one of Europe’s finest, combining beauty with thoughtful design.

In addition to the real serenity of this place, visitors will enjoy the variety of this challenging course offering a remarkable combination of huge bunkers and water hazards along the fairways. This is a wild, yet protected environment and a golf course that is above-average in difficulty, although many fairways were widened in the 2010s.
